KENTWOOD, Mich. (WZZM) – Five week old Maddie is adjusting well to her new home. Maddie, a puppy, was given to the Abel and Denise Soto by a WZZM 13 viewer.
“I can see she’s going to be a good dog already, and we already love her to pieces,” said Denise Soto, cradling Maddie- who fits in her hand.
The Soto’s were interviewed last week after a pair of teenagers burglarized their Kentwood home and killed their dog. It was decided fourteen year-old Jonathan Castelan will be charged as an adult. Court documents show he admitted to hitting the Soto’s five-year-old Dachshund, Pinto in the head with a hammer. He said the dog was barking and bit him. When Soto found the boys, he too hit them with the hammer.
