The Tame Silver Fox is the result of close toy 50 years of experiments in the Soviet Union and Russia to try to domesticate the silver pendant of the Red Fox. Interesting fact, the new foxes not only become more tame, but are more dog-like too: they lost their distinctive musky “fox smell”, became more friendly with humans, put their ears down to show their good will and/or submission (like dogs), wagged their tails when happy and began to be vocal and bark like our domesticated dogs. The breeding project was set up by the Soviet scientist Dmitri Belyaev.
