The sick and the lame went first as animal rescue workers moved 116 horses from a Fulton County farm to a Mountain Home barn on Tuesday. The horses were seized Thursday after a search warrant was served at the 6644 U.S. Hwy. 62 home of Rodney Kankey following the discovery of sick, injured and starving horses.

Animal rescue workers have spent the past three days preparing the horses to be transported and working on the disused barn to ready it for the arrival of the horses.

When it was time to load the first horse for the 40-mile journey, it appeared it might be a tough day. That horse reared up as Kyle Held tried to lead it into a trailer.
