When you see the beautiful baby elephants on this Sunday’s Dateline, you’ll no doubt find it hard to believe that anyone would want to threaten their very existence.

But more and more of Kenya’s baby elephants are being left orphaned and starving by poaching and drought, and that’s where a special orphanage steps in.

Daphne Sheldrick and her team of keepers at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust have been acting as an adoptive elephant family for over 30 years, building a special bond with the surprisingly tame animals.
