CALGARY — When the lab cross had come to the Calgary Humane Society, he was thin, timid and marred with gaping wounds where a ligature had been wrapped so tight it carved into his flesh.

It’s been almost a month since that shocking discovery, one that outraged animal welfare officials and prompted an outpouring of concern from Calgarians.

Now, bearing just a few scars as testimony to what he endured, Parker is ready for adoption.
