ENTHUSIASTIC dog walkers went on a four-mile trek to raise money for charity.

And those without a dog did not miss out – they took toy ones instead. One person even dressed up as cartoon favourite Scooby Doo to get into the spirit.

There were 22 people on the walk, which started in Cemetery Road, Farnworth, went up to Crompton Lodges, where the dogs had a rest, and then back.

Lynne Jordan, who owns 4 Pets Sake, a grooming salon in Cemetery Road, organised the event in a bid to raise money for St Ann’s Hospice in Cheadle, Cheshire, where her aunt recently died.

She said: “It was a lovely sunny day and we really enjoyed it.

“The money is still being counted, but we hope to raise about £2,000. I was very close to my aunt, who was well looked after at St Ann’s Hospice.
