The Saskatchewan SPCA removed 29 dogs from a rural property near Bulyea on Thursday after receiving a number of complaints about the care of the animals.

The 27 adults dogs and two puppies have been transported to the Saskatoon SPCA for care.

According to a SPCA media release, animal protection officers conducted a number of on-site visits after receiving the complaints. When officers visited the property on Wednesday, no drinking water was available for the dogs.

A search warrant was obtained that day and SPCA officers returned to the property with members of the RCMP and a veterinarian. Following examination, the veterinarian determined the animals were in distress.
