Emergency workers rescued 4 legged victims Monday afternoon from a house fire.

A passerby spotted smoke coming from a 2 story home and called 911. Police first arrived on the scene and reported that at least one cat and one dog were inside the home.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Greg Benson said firefighters arrived soon after. The fire itself appeared to be inside a downstairs utility room, but it caused a tremendous amount of smoke throughout the entire structure.

During an initial search, rescuers were able to locate two dogs and one cat. The family pets were turned over to the police department’s animal control officer.
Firefighters recovered a second cat while making another tour searching the premises.

None of the rescued animals appeared to have suffered injuries from the fire, said Mr Benson.
